ABOUT R&DAbout Crystal Process R&D

Our R&D Department is the core organization that technicalizes our vision, "Creating a sustainable future with highly functional surface coatings," which is set under the President's policy. Utilizing our material design capabilities based on organic and inorganic synthetic chemistry, we are promoting the research and development of high-performance surface coating agents with an eye toward the maintenance-free era.

Through coating technologies such as surface stain prevention, durability improvement, and aesthetic maintenance, we create materials that reduce the maintenance burden on automobiles, architecture, and industrial products. As a manufacturer of coating agents and polishing compounds based on organic and inorganic synthesis technologies, we have a small, elite team of six members, including the R&D Manager, within our company of approximately 30 regular employees. We invest heavily in research relative to our sales scale, and our strength lies in problem-solving product development that stays close to our customers' challenges. The female ratio among our researchers is high at 50%, and they come from diverse age groups and specialized fields. Centered on "Challenge & Creativity," we have built a flexible and agile R&D system. Additionally, as an R&D department focusing on surface treatment technology and material design, we have acquired and applied for multiple patents, continuously accumulating our unique technologies.

CASE STUDIESCustomer Needs and the Solution Process

  • CASE 01

    Challenge

We want to develop a coating agent whose water repellency lasts for a long time even after car washing. Existing products had insufficient durability, leading to continuous complaints from users.

    Solution

We quantitatively evaluated the water repellency of each formulation using a contact angle meter. We identified the optimal formulation and consistently supported the transition to the mass production process.

  • CASE 02

    Challenge

Workability was insufficient with the current specifications, which led to a significant decrease in work efficiency.

    Solution

By repeatedly improving the liquid agent and verifying the workability on-site, we developed and provided a liquid agent that significantly improved work efficiency.

  • CASE 03

    Challenge

We want to export products that clear chemical regulations to Europe. There was no know-how on regulatory compliance within the company, and we did not know who to contact.

    Solution

English SDS creation, GHS classification, and IATA hazardous materials compliance were completed entirely within our R&D department. We handled the complicated procedures on their behalf and achieved speedy delivery.
